Some Myths in Gym

January 15, 2010 in all, physicalfitness, recomended by advisor

In this article Iwish to discuss about some myths which most of us accept to be true. Here are some of them.

  1. We often hear “I am on cutting so I don’t use heavy weights and if I will, it’ll make me look bulky”.  Infact there is nothing like that. Gaining and reducing not only depends on your exercise but also on your diet, which plays a dramatic role in comlpete Body building. Remember one thing that “Weight add muscles“. So for a better cutting/curves, heavy lifts can be used without any doubt.
  2. Another popular myth comes as “I quit gym/Can’t find time for exercise any more resulting my muscles turning to fat” which is entirely not possible. What actually happens is that when you stop working out, your muscles “Atrophy” (decrease in size). In simple words it is a general physiological process of reabsorption and breakdown of tissues or a pump out. On the contrary, our eating habits stay the same. The daily calories intake remains the same and day by day those extra calories turn to fat making us think that our muscles have turned to fat.
  3. A concern rather than a myth among girls comes as “Since I am a female, using weights would make me  look bulky as men”. Now people we all know how particular girls are when it comes to looks. But i would like to make it quite clear to all you girls out there that this thinking is absolutely wrong. A women’s  body produces much less quantity of Testosterone hormones, the one responsible for strong and huge muscles in males. So naturally a women’s muscles do not turn bulky. Even if they use heavy weights in their exercise routine they will not become bulky.
  4. I have personally over heard so many guys coming up with this “ Treadmill is the best thing for a good warm up session and is sufficient for me” which is wrong. I see so many people with a belief that only jogging on the treadmill comprises of a complete warm up. Infact it is just another part of your warm up session. Complete some light weight sets for that muscle which you are going to exercise too everytime you go for a good warmup.

Well these are some of the popular myths but there are so many others too which need to be taken up here on your very own complete body building portal. If you come up with any other myth you feel you need an answer to, you bet where to ask it from.

Happy Gyming …
