Nutrition can be defined as the science of food and drink with respect to (human) health and performance. Nutrition deals with our dietary requirements in order to optimize the body’s

  • Pregnancy
  • Disease

Good health can not be come without good nutrition, in other words we can say that good health is directly connected with good nutrition.

Nutritional Status refers to the condition of the body resulting from its current utilization of its nutrient supply. It may be good, fair or poor, depending on the intake of dietary essentials, the body’s need for them and ability to utilize them. In other words the ratio of nutrients intake and your body’s ability (how much you can absorb form what you eat), and how you utilize it.

Good Nutritional Status is must for:

  • Development of organs
  • Functionality of organs
  • Reproduction
  • Growth of the body
  • Immunity(the power to keep out infections and diseases from the body)
  • Repair of injuries

Many problems are related directly or indirectly to what we eat. Like obesity, liver disease, dental disease etc.

Nutrients can be described as carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals, dietary fibers and water. We will describe them later.
